How to Protect Outdoor Wood Furniture From the Elements

One of the misconceptions about outdoor, or treated, wood is that it withstands water. Outdoor wood products are injected with chemicals that prevent critters from eating the wood, but it is not protected from water and the elements. Adding the protection is easy. Does this Spark an idea?

    Paint the cut areas of pressure treated outdoor wood furniture with two coats of end-cut solution. This is a thin liquid that soaks into the wood providing the same protection that is injected into it.

    Select a water sealant that meets your needs. A good water sealant causes water to bead up and roll off of the item. Higher-quality water sealants also provide protection from ultraviolet rays to help maintain color and appearance.

    Thoroughly coat your furniture with the water sealer, following application directions on the container.
